A meatball is ground meat rolled into a small ball, sometimes along with other ingredients, such as bread crumbs, minced onion, eggs, butter, and seasoning. Meatballs are cooked by frying, baking, steaming, or braising in sauce.
Mix the beef, pork and mortadella in a large bowl. Add all the other ingredients. If the mixture is too wet add 1 TBSP of breadcrumbs. Mix and add more if necessary.
Shape the mixture into medium, size balls (about 3 cm or slightly larger than one inch). Set aside.
Chop the onion and sauté in olive oil. Add the tomato sauce, salt, and pepper, and allow to simmer.
When the sauce starts to boil add the meatballs and the peas.
Cover and allow to simmer for about 40 minutes.
Flip the meatballs half the way through the cooking time.
