As expected, our excitement levels of attending cooking classes in Italy were quite high. Having just returned, we can honestly say that our expectations were met and then some…
Our experience with Cultural Discovery Vacations and its “Under the Tuscan and Umbrian Sun” was truly remarkable. There was never a dull moment. Never a missed opportunity. And never a time when we did not feel uplifted, happy, and genuinely cared for by the owner(s) and staff.
Michael, Carla, Katia, Rita, Sergio, Ian, Sophie, and Rocky were a delight to get to know and, in their caring hands, made us feel completely appreciated for trusting them with our experience.
Carla’s inviting kitchen became our anchor with Katia and Rita steering us along. Sergio kept us safe on those crazy Italian roads, as did Sophie who also as tour guide, provided much incite to the places we visited. Ian was a joy and a constant presence…the type of pillar you want in a foreign land. And Rocky, who was with us for only the first day, set the stage with an enthusiasm that lasted our entire week.
Micheal, of course, is the heart of Cultural Discovery Vacations and Paolo, we’re sure the soul although she was not with us. Together they have put together an incredible journey for everyone. Their Italian friends, local market owners, business associates, and partners in all things Italian, take the week to the next level. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits to people’s homes and cucinas, wineries, olive oil makers, restaurants, museums, churches, abbeys, and of course those wonderfully small but incredibly inspiring ancient towns and cities.
So much was packed into our trip that we can’t say for sure what was better than the next. All we know is that IT was the best. On Maui the saying would be, “Cultural Discovery Vacations is no ka oi”. And believe us, it is no ka oi! We will definitely return.
