You certainly don't. In fact, you may have the most fun of all if you are not :-)
Our groups are often a mix of aspiring chefs and people who have never turned on a stove. We have had professional restaurant chefs standing right next to people that could barely make toast... yet everyone has a fantastic time and it all has a great way of working out.
It may just be this diversity in skills that make it as fun as it is :-)
