The Amalfi Coast is one of the top tourist destinations of Italy. Most of the international tourists will be concentrated in the areas of Sorrento, Positano and Capri, while the southern part of the coast (starting from Amalfi) is definitely less crowded.
You'll find that most of the shop owners in Amalfi will speak some English, so you will have no trouble ordering food or drinks in restaurants or bars, and going shopping on your own.
Atrani is a lovely town that will appear to transport you back in time to an Amalfi Coast before it was a top tourist destination. There are no shops in town, but it features a lovely little beach where early birds can go for a refreshing morning swim among the local families.
