On one of the tiny little islands off the Sicilian coast exists a cave. To reach the cave, we will take a boat to this little island, then climb in a jeep that will take us to the top. Once we are there, we will take a light hike down a path, that will bring us to the entrance of this remote cave.
Inside the cave, we will have the opportunity to see some of the earliest known origins of man: Engravings made by the inhabitants of this area before the sea swallowed it up in the Paleolithic period... 11 to 12 thousand years ago. In addition, we will see cave paintings that date back to the Neolithic age... 6 thousand years old.
This trek into ancient civilization is made even more impressive by the fact that there are so few people here. We'll be hiking down to this remote cave, giving you an almost Indiana Jones feel to it all.
Once we have seen the caves, instead of hiking back up the mountain, if weather permits, our boat will come around and pick us up on the rocky shore of the island to take us home.
