You almost expect a knight in armour to ride into town and there is a sense of history everywhere.

It is so stimulating to go to a town where you really need your phrase book and not depend on them speaking English! You almost expect a knight in armour to ride into town and there is a sense of history everywhere. Watch "The Borgias" on TV to get a sense of it. In fact, the Borgia Pope in the tv programme once owned the papal palace that dominates the town in the 16th century!
