Wonderful, engaging, engorging and fabulous!

Great country! Wonderful people. Deep history and delightful family cooking. Plus, Pelinkovac (local liqueur) and the grandfather of all Zinfandels!

Met wonderful people of Croatia! Also met new friends as part of our week in Split.
The late-season changing weather posed some challenges to the plan, but the CDV Team pivoted beautifully!  The hosted lunch on Hvar was off-the-hook a legitimate slice of Croatian life, as was our final night with Mislav's family and Papa's Peka!  Oh my.

The local crew was fully engaged with us and made us feel immediately at home, sharing their enthusiasm for Split, Croatia, Pelinkovac and Hajduk football!  The seafood was the best I've ever had, and I don't like seafood in general.  (If you can't get good seafood in Croatia, you can't get good seafood - period.)

I will never forget our trip to Knin, our tour of the war museum at the fortress there, standing with the Croatian flag flying free in the breeze, and Donchi's shared experiences as a soldier during the war. Likewise, our visit to Omis and Marco's family's summer home for an incredible night of music, home-cooked food, great wines and deep conversation is a forever moment.  (This is the home of the first Zinfandel vines, from which all others are derived as proven by UC Davis' vinicultural genealogy study proved. Marco and his sister are keeping the beating heart of an important piece of history).
